YLFE is a blog of book reviews: covering the best of fantasy books and what makes them exciting or unique! My posts will also have a special focus on characters.
Why characters?
I have been reading fantasy/scifi for a long time, and I always fall the most in love with the characters. After all, as a reader we're living their lives with them and taking part in their adventures! When a book boasts a particularly unique or exciting character take, YLFE's reviews will cover that specifically.
What's YLFE mean?
I have to confess, I'm a bit of a nerd. "Ylfe" is the Old English word for Elf. (See the comparison?) When looking for a title, I wanted a word that would relate to my topic but still sound like a name. The fantasy (and scifi!) genre has always gone back to the idea of elves, and it felt right.
Review Policy
Thank you for considering me as a possible reviewer for your book(s)! Here is some information you should know before submitting a request to me.
I always write honest reviews. I won't sugarcoat my opinions if a book doesn't work for me. However I will never be impolite or inappropriate when reviewing something I didn't enjoy. Please do not ask me to review your book if you are only looking for positive reviews, because I can't promise that.
I reserve the right to not finish a book that I accept for review. I do review every book I finish; however if I am not enjoying a book after 50-100 pages I will usually abandon said book, which means it will not get reviewed.
If you have a particular time frame wherein you’d like the review to be published on my blog, please say so in your original email request. I will review at my own pace unless otherwise requested.
Generally, I am interested in reviewing books within the following genres:
- Fantasy
- Mystery/suspense/horror
- Science fiction
- Young Adult fiction
- Historical fiction
